Winery specializing in sparkling wines
The winery was established in 2011 as Romania's first investment, aiming to produce mainly sparkling and semi-sparkling wines. This special region was chosen by Tibor Gál, a leading Hungarian enologist, where noble grape varieties were planted at high density. Northwestern Transylvania has a mild continental climate, and especially the large diurnal temperature range before harvest is suitable for producing sparkling wines with high but ripe acidity and low alcohol content. The Carastelec Sparkling Winery makes the most of the region's materials to create unique wines.
All high-quality grapes are harvested by hand.
Overwhelming Awards
The winery first won a silver medal at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships in 2017 and has continued to win awards ever since.
Awards to date include 7 gold medals, 12 silver medals, 8 Best in Class awards, the 2017 Rising Star World Champion Trophy, the 2018, 2021, and 2022 National Champion Trophies, and the 2021 Chairman's Trophy.
These awards demonstrate that we produce world-class sparkling wines every year.
