Lacerta Winery is located two hours northeast of Bucharest, the capital of Romania, south of the Carpathian Mountains, on the same 45th parallel as the famous Piedmont and Bordeaux regions, a place with wet springs and long, dry, sunny autumns.
The fertile and pristine soil is a place famous for its scurrying little lizards. If you stop in Dealu Mare to gaze at the breathtakingly beautiful vineyards and inhale the scent of the air, you might catch a glimpse of a lizard, a living testament to this wonderful land, for just a few seconds. In 2011, taking its name from the Latin word for "lizard," a multi-award-winning, world-class winery was born. Its name is Lacerta.
The Lacerta winery perfectly embodies the so-called "new, new world." It combines modern, cutting-edge technology to create elegant, rich, and silky wines.
The owner, Walter, secretly sent soil from this land to Germany for analysis, and in 2005, he cut down the existing grapevines and planted new international and indigenous varieties. He first bottled and sold his wine in 2011. In just a few years, he has won numerous awards in wine competitions around the world.
